Liga Superior Round 12: San Marcos defeat Nejapa in the game between Top 4 teams- November 22, 2019

San Marcos - Nejapa 108-70 An interesting game for San Marcos (8-2) which hosted in San Marcos 4th ranked Nejapa (2-9). First ranked San Marcos had an easy win 108-70. San Marcos dominated down low during the game scoring 74 of its points in the paint compared to Nejapa's 40. They outrebounded Nejapa 56-31 including a 42-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. San Marcos looked well-organized offensively handing out 36 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Nejapa's players. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when San Marcos made 8 blocks. It was a good game for Cuban center Yoan-Luis Haiti (201-82, agency: Pro Sports) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 22 points, 25 rebounds and 6 assists. Roger Diaz (180-99) contributed with 17 points and 7 assists for the winners. Four San Marcos players scored in double figures. San Marcos' coach felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American guard Dewan White (193, college: Kennedy-King CC) replied with 42 points (!!!), 9 rebounds and 4 blocks and point guard Cristian Amaya (180-95) added 10 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Nejapa. San Marcos have an impressive five-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 8-2 record, which they share with Juayua. Nejapa at the other side keeps the fourth place with nine games lost. San Marcos is looking forward to face league's second-placed Juayua on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Nejapa will play against Arce and it may be a tough game between close rivals. Second ranked Juayua (8-2) played at the court of 5th ranked Izalco (1-10). Juayua defeated Izalco 53-42. Juayua forced 28 Izalco turnovers. Strangely Izalco outrebounded Juayua 43-29 including a 30-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. They brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Harrison Rieger (193-98) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 17 points, 12 rebounds, 5 assists and 6 steals and forward Fernando Baides (200-97) who added 10 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was guard Eduardo Mariona (188-97) with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 16 rebounds and forward Erick Tobar (188-96) scored 8 points, 10 rebounds and 4 blocks. Izalco's coach rotated thirteen players in this game, but that didn't help. Juayua have a solid four-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with San Marcos. Izalco lost tenth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom place with ten games lost. Juayua will play against league's leader San Marcos at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Izalco will have a break next round.
